Everyday Gandis

The purpose of the everyday gandhis® project is to tell the stories of ordinary people creating peace in their communities, particularly in ‘hot spots’ around the world, utilizing media of all types (visual, written, spoken).

The project is a response to the saturation of violent images that surround us, perpetuating the erroneous notion that living as adversaries is normal and that the world is organized as a win/lose dichotomy. We are ‘embedded’ in violent images unrelentingly.

The goal of the everyday gandhis® project is to re-focus our attention on peace and healing, and to nourish and inspire us with stories of people who embody peaceful living in a deep way, inviting us to join them.

We are honored to be entrusted with their stories.

The everyday gandhis® project was founded in 1999 by Cynthia Travis, a mediator and mediation trainer working in Santa Barbara, California and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
