Changing Times

5Sep2010

Lately the weather seems to indicate the rapidity of changes in our world. It is more imperative than ever to be connecting with the "flow". By being becoming fluid ourselves we are able to move from event to event, and experience change with out struggle. Flow or Prana is the underlying energy that sustains all life. If we can be open to it and centered in our Spirit nature we can learn to navigate the flow. We can listen and find the intelligence, the guidance in flow....
Taking the time to develop a practice that helps us center and still the mind---is a powerful beginning step. The rapidly changing world can "rattle" the best of us...take some time to center, slow down and deepen your connection with Flow.

A and B

15Aug2010

This morning I asked, before I chose the medicine cards of the week, for them to both be in the same "saved group" that I have on my desk top.
The way I have them saved (A to L then M to Z) means that when I open the window in Wisdom Word to edit, I then open a window from the desk top for the content of the animal totem. This morning I only wanted to open once so I asked.........and there they were Armadillo and Blue Heron...I wondered how many things we affect and can affect by asking unconsciously or consciously....By studying and knowing the self ( Blue Heron) we can know how to operate in the world, where we need boundaries ( Armadillo)....It will be interesting to note the relationship between ourselves and between these two totems, the support and the energy of the week. Also interesting to note that our upcoming week is filled with astrological challenges....knowing the self, putting up proper boundaries and taking one step at a time gives us an opportunity to bring in some great healing energy and to let go of things that no longer serve!

Honey gathering

1Aug2010

Yesterday I experienced the miracle of the honey bees once again. We harvested 7 deep frames of honey and 5 shallow frames of honey. It was so heavy i couldn't believe it and I could not move the hive body with the honey in it!
After almost dropping the bees on the day we put the hive escape board on, ( a board with a hole that allows the bees to go down deeper in the hive at night and out of the honey super-it is designed so they can't get back into the honey super) we could barely lift it back on to the hive. I was disturbed wondering how I would get the honey super off in two days when the bees had moved from their honey. ( After the escape board you wait two days then you harvest the honey). Help came in the form of a slight woman bee keeper from Vermont, she told me I could place an empty super in a black plastic garbage bag and put the heavy frames in one by one! Good idea, it worked!
Any how we uncapped ( slicing off the top wax caps that the bees seal the honey in the comb with) and then put the wooden frames, wax comb filled with honey, in to a hand cranked extractor, which as you crank spins the honey off the comb...sounds easier than it is...12 frames took all day. and created a sticky, tasty mess :) watching the golden honey flow out of the drum (at the end of the day) was worth it! what a miracle...lots of work from those fabulous honey bees to create such bounty. I am grateful to the honey bees for their presence on our world and I am grateful for such a tasty delight :)

Bees

25Jul2010

Yesterday I spent the day at a bee conference. The VBA Vermont Bee keepers association, held their semi annual meeting in Dorset, VT which is just over the border from where I live in upstate New York. As I listened to the speakers I, once again, was awed by the presence of bees in our world. What an incredible, giving species honey bees are.
Not only do they pollinate making it possible to continue the growth of much of our crops and flowers on the earth, but they make and give us the gift of honey. It is only our greed, and imbalances that have affected the health and lives of these beautiful creatures. Their colonies die out because of a myriad of reasons, pollution, poor agriculture decisions, chemicals, generically altered plants....I admire the bee keepers that are seeking to be more aware of how to support and strengthen the honey bees, with out using more chemicals. Support your local bee keepers! :) and send love and gratitude to the Honey Bees!

Leader of one or leader of many

11Jul2010

Weather you are a leader of one of a leader of many Mountain Lion asks you to be true to your self. Are you moving through live according to your own inner knowing? Or are you looking for others to approve of you ? to like you? The mountain lion comes this week to show us the energy of the week. In order to properly understand what message the great cat has for us we need to go inward and apply Mountain Lion's lessons to our lives. ( see animal totems to read more about Mountain Lion). The support energy is about boundaries and asks us to self question listing a number of questions to help guide us on understanding the use of boundaries!
all and all a good combination for our last week of this summer series!

4th of July

4Jul2010

Happy 4th of July - lets all take our freedom and use it wisely. What ever we all have to complain about we do have to admit that we have an unprecedented amount of freedom. In the past many had to toil from sunrise to sunset just to survive. Let's take a look at our lives and see how we can "free" ourselves from time wasting, thinking, worrying and behavior that distractions us from know our selves better....
Have a Happy 4th and let freedom ring!

badger and wild boar

29Jun2010

This week and last week the support animals have been very powerful.
The wild boar of last week, asked us to confront issues and face up to our fears, the badger asks us to get aggressive about what needs to be changed or done in order for us to get on with it!
These powerful support totems can help us with any unresolved, issues that we have been putting on the back burner, the can help us "attack" a problem, disease, or even a messy closet, with the energy to get the job done....the challenge for us is to look at the relationship between the energy of the week and the support and see where it apply s to our lives.
I have many things, that have had to go to the "back burner" so that i could deal with unexpected issues that cropped up ( for example: my dog getting sick, I have been back and forth to 3 different vets, had multiple tests and so on to discover what was causing the fevers) This "unexpected" issue has kept me busy, now that things are better in the doggies health life, it is time to address other issues. With the appearance of these strong totems, it appears that, perhaps I need to examine any areas where I am procrastinating....by doing so I bet that i will learn a great deal.....
Off to "get with it" :)

raining again this Sunday

13Jun2010

Yup, It's raining- suitable, for my morning's mood kind of quiet and inward.
Yesterday we had a powerful and lovely Quan Yin's Garden workshop in Carmel NY. At the end of the workshop we were able to go to the Chuang Yen Monastery in ,Kent, NY. The location turned out to be about 15 minuets from where we were gathered. We arrived about 10 minuets before closing and headed to the Quan Yin Hall. It was perfect timing as
there was prayer and chanting going on the the Lady Quan Yin, and we folded on to the meditation mats and continued our work in the Garden :)
I will post pictures later.
Blessings on this gray day
