...a coworker of mine is currently battling cancer, and this post was on his website...I thought it was very moving and worth sharing...
"We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we're frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We'll certainly be happy when they're out of that stage.
Willy Wonka: But Charlie, don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he he always wanted.
Charlie Bucket: What happened?
Willy Wonka: He lived happily ever after.
There are musicians , and then there are musicians...those geniuses, prodigies...the ones who can make chills run down your spine...who push the envelope , who create music that sounds as if God himself were playing ....there are too many to mention, but one who always comes to mind, who I have been listening to repeatedly of late, is , saxophone player, Mr. John Coltrane. " A Love Supreme " is his masterwork..The great Elvin Jones on drums, McCoy Tyner on keys, and Jimmy Garrison on bass....from the opening notes, when you feel those chills, you just know it's something different..a moment where a musician , a band , just take all their talents , their brilliance, and join to create something that will last forever. These moments arent just limited to music, they happen in everyday life...it's the people we know and love , a great dinner or book...they are precious, they are gifts....appreciate them, take them in..breathe them, cherish them....adore them...be thankful. .
The movies , as well as other forms of art and expression, are capable of producing emotions, provoking thought, laughter, providing inspiration, and more. I recently wrote about how much I loved the movie Juno...I found this exchange particularly meaningful ...it contains so much...
Today I saw the movie "Juno" with a friend. I LOVED it! Ellen Page in the role of Juno is magnificent, as is the entire supporting cast. The writing is brilliant... it is loaded with some very powerful and positive messages delivered in an original and refreshing way.
Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.
-John Lennon
One of many great lyrics written by a man who was senselessly shot and killed 27 years ago today. While he may be gone his music both with and without the Beatles will always live on, and continues to influence and inspire generation after generation.
Yesterday I received an email from someone I have a business relationship with and speak to infrequently...He and his wife just had a baby girl...the message is pretty clear, and it's a good one! I thought I would share it
Should you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks.
Warren Buffett
You may wonder, 'How can I leave it all behind if I am just coming back to it? How can I make a new beginning if I simply return to the old?' The answer lies in the return. You will not come back to the 'same old thing.' What you return to has changed because you have changed.
When My Mind is Still
When my mind is still and alone with the beating of my heart,
I remember things too easily forgotten:
The purity of early love,
The maturity of unselfish love that asks --
