Sound is an is an amazing thing .It's all around us,always, constantly feeding into us, vibrating us down to the deepest cellular level as we are entrained by it.Sometimes there are qualities of sound which can “grate” against us and can lead our systems down an inharmonious path.
Imagine living near where the planes take off from an airport or the jackhammer on a busy city street being used by the men in hardhats. How to live with that daily! Yes, we humans can be very adaptable creatures, but how far can the human system adapt to the point where that system rebels by breaking down and gives us the migraine, the tense hunched shoulders, or the bloodshot eyes from lack of sleep.
It’s amazing the range of what sound can effect. Now given the other side of things, the beautiful sound of green grass “singing” after a rainfall,or the deep-throated sound of the Tuva throat singers vibrating and jostling our chakras as we listen to them. What a range and polarity!
In the endless dialogue of daily and nightly sound, right down to our cellular level we are being molded and shape-shiflted for better or for worse ,in sickness or in health. That marriage between us and the vibrations which we take in, steers us in many directions.
I’m thinking that maybe all matter is really a sound which “congeals” and takes a form, which can seem more solid or more invisible as according to how high or low it’s vibratory “song” is. That also says to me that nothing is ever motionless no matter how slow the vibration or how low the song sung.
The stone has it’s quiet low song as much as the bird has it’s own as it sings on the branch of the tree.I think that our Native elders had it right when they taught that all things in this world have a life and a being, the stone, the tree and the wind. Think of how much richer our lives would be if we recognized our bretherin in this way.Would some of us be as lonely as we say we are now if we were to forge a relationship with the stone or the tree and recognize them as sentient beings, hearing our every footstep, sigh or joyous laughter? Why they might have some great wisdom to impart to us in maybe our most difficult of times.
Sound does transport us to other dimensions and states of being. I know when I tone a sound like “OM”, it travels to my first chakra ,through my legs and into the earth, feeling grounded and realizing the true liberation of being in the moment. For me the “AHH” sound opens my heart space creating a warm feeling radiating outwards..
So let us truly find our song inside ,the medicine we need to tone, sing or speak ourselves to a greater awareness and greater communication with each other and the worlds around us
The moon is full. The August wind, that breath of God which tumbles ,rolls and twists onto the earth. The ancient world being stirred from the many centuried sleep.Ancestors awaken now.The voice of the Mother arises under foot of each being. The four-leggeds and the two-leggeds are now knowing what it is,what it is all about. What they know of the Great Unity. The circle. The circle states how we speak, how we walk the walk, how we pass the talking stick to one another and listen to what each has to say in their turn.I turn away from human made divisions and instead watch the trek of the sun from horizon to horizon.
The other day I was wondering about the animal world and how they perceive their lives.Specifically I was wondering if they require or have constructed ways of "measuring" their days in which thay move through. What I mean to say is that we as humans think of our yesterdays, what we had or had not done, our futures, our plans hopes and wishes and our present here and now moments, where ideally it would be to our greatest advantage to be living in.We also have created a 365 day calender and a 24 hour way of measuring time.
Today we had the snake slither into our consciousnees.Hearing about the snake on the call today reminded me of a story a Native teacher of mine Sun Bear.He passed on into the spirit years ago.He was a Chippewa medicine man ,earth profit, rain maker and rainbow warrior. When he looked at you it looked like he was looking into you and beyond you at the same time. Anyway a story he told about in his biography, "Path Of Power" was at a time when he was a younger man and he was walking in the desert one day.All of a sudden as he was walking, he suddenly got the urge to start running. So he started running and running and as he ran, at a moment that he wasn't looking or noticing he suddenly stepped on a poisonous snake. Now this desert was known for it's poisonious snakes. The snake bit him and Sun Bear felt something like an electrical shock go up his leg.In his rational mind he knew that he was in trouble and that it was only moments for the poison to totally incapacitate him and probably kill him out in the hot desert. After a few brief moments though the "medicine" in Sun Bear took over and his running started excelerating.Instead of feeling like he was going to lose consciousness and drop dead , he felt a burst of a tremendous life force course through his body and tremendous strength was running through him. What had happened was that his "medicine body" had decided at a seemingly split second to transmute the poison into a life fuel elixir for his body.Instead of being ravaged and overtaken by a poisonious substance his "body" used it as a life force to supplement and boost his power.
Hi all. I didn't make it to be on the Channeled Evening on Monday, but I tapped in for a bit while enjoying an evening with the kids & wanted to share a little of the experience.
I got home from work and felt really drained from the day. Alison went on a night out with some friends. The kids and I got some dinner then went outside & I got my second wind. THEN, Things started to pick up. What a beautiful, warm, early Spring, night! It's Spring Break, so the kids have been home -- spring cleaning, outside and in.
There are moments in my life when something has happened that has caused me to hit a snag and tear. I unravel; the fine knit of my soul ladders, the stitch widens, and I become stretched. The experience is interesting in isolation for what it reveals to me about my soul. It allows me the opportunity to examine hidden depths, to reflect and grow, to understand the edge of my reality, to understand who I am in the rawest form. With time the tear is repaired, and my soul acquires a new more beautiful pattern. Brilliant, I think to myself, the perfect experience. I am ready to move on. The darkness is complete; I prepare for the expansive light.
It's been a whirlwind since returning to NYC.
My dreams are filled with little messages and I wake up knowing that something is happening, somehow I am communicating with my inner self on the dream plane. I struggle to remember the dreams, and often to interpret them. There is an overarching feeling, however, that permeates when I wake up and I trust that something is actually going on.
In today's call Melissa and some of the callers mentioned being in the flow.Flowing like the water flows and it reminded me of a really great biography public TV had on the martial arts Master Bruce L
